Vision & Mission

Welcome to PHOENIX House. Our Vision is that people recovering from mental illness or trauma in the Abilene area achieve their full potential and are respected as co-workers, neighbors, students and friends.

PHOENIX House is a membership-based community where people living with mental illness or trauma can recover to lead personally satisfying and productive lives. Participants – who are called members, not patients, and are reflective of our area’s rich diversity – share ownership and responsibility for the success of the Clubhouse. They work in an empowering partnership with a small staff, building on their strengths rather than focusing on illness. Recovery is achieved in the Clubhouse through work and educational opportunities, and social relationships, which are proven to be restorative and provide a firm foundation for growth, dignity, and individual achievement. PHOENIX House is an operational endeavor that achieves recuperative results with its membership and draws inspiration from and aims to adhere to the 37 Standards of the worldwide Clubhouse movement – a SAMHSA recognized evidence-based practice.

It is said, “Communities flourish when people join together for the common good.”  PHOENIX House is an emerging growth mental health Clubhouse pursuing accreditation by Clubhouse International. Our vision is that people recovering from mental illness or trauma in the Abilene area achieve their full potential and are respected as co-workers, neighbors, partners, students, and friends. The continued support of our community partners is vital, wanted and appreciated. Please visit our new campus at 802 Orange. Abilene and watch us continue to grow. You’ll be amazed. Give us a call and schedule a tour at (325) 704-2110. Our “Contact Us” page is currently experiencing difficulties, bear with us as we work out the hiccups on our new website.

We have enlarged the scope of our website to include a page dedicated to our 5-Year Capital Stewardship Campaign “Strength & Renewal 2021-2026” for long-term goals. Visit our dedicated page to the Strength & Renewal campaign and support our growth and empower our members.
